Hunny reunion for life-savers - 17 years on
A SURPRISE reunion was held in Hunstanton for medical staff to meet a heart attack victim they treated 17 years ago while she was on holiday in West Norfolk.
Pat Wells, of Great Paxton, near Huntingdon, believes she was just moments from death after falling ill while visiting the Diglea Caravan Park, in Snettisham, in September 1990.
After suffering aches and pains throughout her body she told daughter Carole to fetch a nearby friend, who rushed her to the village surgery where she was treated by Dr Patrick Shaw and Sister Rosa Barry.
On her arrival, Mrs Wells suffered a massive heart attack and was resuscitated by the duo before being taken to Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where she was treated in the intensive care unit before eventually making a full recovery.
Mrs Wells told the Lynn News: "I owe Dr Shaw and Sister Barry, the two wonderful people who did the hard work, many thanks.
"We had arranged to meet up with Dr Shaw and his wife at the end of November and to my great surprise Sister Barry was also there, whom I had not seen for 17 years.
"It was truly a wonderful reunion and made my Christmas."
