HUNSTANTON: Lifestyles festival moves back to later in the year

Hunstanton’s Lifestyles Festival will be held in September this year.

The extreme-sport and culture weekend was held to coincide with the Queen’s DiamondJubilee festivities in June in 2012 and had previously been staged in July.

This year it will be on Friday, September 20, Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22.

Nearly a decade since the festival first started out, the team behind the festival vow to deliver a top-line up of free activities over three days.

There will be “jaw-dropping demonstrations and heart-pumping competitions” in water and street sports including BMX, parkour, street dance, power kiting, kitesurfing, windsurfing and skateboarding, coupled with have-a-go sessions and skills workshops.

New this year are kayaking and wakeboarding.

The weekend sport line-up is set to a backdrop of arts and culture, including live music, a classic VW show and new for 2013 Big Art installations from graffiti and beach artists.

Thousands of festival-goers, join local residents and everyone from world kitesurfing champions to young sports enthusiasts, music fans and professionals, tourists, and anyone else on the North Promenade.

The festival is run by volunteers. Volunteers will be encouraged to “give an hour, get an hour” with rewards of vouchers for West Norfolk Council-owned leisure venues, such as the Shed Skatepark in Lynn.
