A fun shop in Hunstanton where you not only get to choose your pottery but get to customise it too, has been acclaimed by its public.

Paint Me Ceramics has won a Reader Star Award in the Primary Times craft provider category.

Parents of children, aged from four to 11, were asked to vote for their favourite local places of family entertainment.

Paint Me Ceramics, of Westgate, came first for the activities provided for people of all ages.

The survey appeared in 40,000 copies of the publication, which is distributed to 198 primary and middle schools across Norfolk and taken home to parents via their children.

This year families also had the chance to make their nominations online.

Proprietor Frances Mortin was delighted to receive recognition for the artistic activities she provides for children from a very young age.

In fact, even before they are aware of their creativity, children only a few months old are regularly turning their hands – and sometimes their feet – to the design of ceramic works of art, which will be treasured by their parents for years to come.

And as they become more craft-based, there are plenty of opportunities for older children and adults to develop new artistic skills with materials such as Deco Patch and Paint and Patch.

Mrs Mortin is keen to provide a wider range of services to meet the demands of the community that have taken her creative talents to heart. Shortly, Frances will be offering a base to allow local crafters to display and sell their hand-made products in her shop.

Loyalty cards for people in West Norfolk have been launched, ranging from free tea and coffee after four visits to any pottery to paint after 12 visits.
