Hunstanton between world wars

WITH a major regeneration of Hunstanton in the pipeline Lynn News reader John Maiden brought us this postcard from the popular resort's bygone days.

Mr Maiden, of Hunstanton Road, Heacham, was given the picture by his friend Brian Holmes and believes it was taken between the two world wars, but is unsure of the exact date.

He said: "It was all done on the back of the depression. People with no work would come to Hunstanton.

"In 1928 they did the swimming pool and in 1932 they did the boating lake. This must have been taken between the wars as the pavilion theatre is still there. It is a significant shot in time.

"I hope the regeneration that is being talked about can recapture something of this style."
