AHOY! King’s Lynn sea cadets donned fancy dress to walk seven miles for a fund-raising effort.

Around 11 cadets, joined by staff and parents, walked from the lighthouse at Old Hunstanton to Heacham and back on Saturday (February 18).

The idea of the two-and-a-half hour walk was to raise funds for a secure storage unit.

Chairman of the TS Vancouver parents and supporters group Christine Wratten said that the unit was needed at Saddlebow as the cadets had suffered vandalism in the past.

Among those taking part in the event was Lydia Sleight, who has dislocated her knee, and who was pushed all the way round in a wheelchair by mum, Andrea.

It is hoped that the effort has raised several hundred pounds towards the new £600 facility, Christine said.
