Ill-gotten gains help local charities

TWO West Norfolk bodies are to benefit from donations made by Norfolk Police from the Police Property Act Fund.

The fund relates to the sale of goods recovered during police investigations. If unclaimed by their owners within six months, the goods are sold and the proceeds are put into a charitable fund.

Money from the fund is distributed twice yearly to community organisations and charities across the county.

The latest group of recipients are Great Massingham School, Fakenham Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Norfolk Constabulary Benevolent Fund, Norfolk Army Cadet Force, Missing People, Suzy Lamplugh Trust, Care of Police Survivors (COPS), Starlight, Royal Humane Society, Old Buckenham Preschool and Nursery, the Royal Anglian Regiment and the Great Hospital in Bishopgate, Norwich.

Superintendent Sarah Francis said: "We're confident that those who have received donations will be able to put the money to good use. We look forward to helping other charities in the future."
