Ira gives up presents to provide WN cash boost
FRIENDS and family who gave cash instead of gifts for Ira Bowman's 60th birthday have helped her to present cheques totalling £720 to the West Norfolk branch of the Alzheimer's Society.
"Everyone was very generous and the local branch was thrilled," said Mrs Bowman, who was 60 on December 8.
"I chose the Alzheimer's Society because my mother suffered from the illness before she died last January and I know how terrible it can be for families. It also made a difference knowing that the money will go directly to the local branch of the Society."
Mrs Bowman, who lives in Spring Close, Gaywood, was joined by her daughters Justine and Claire Bowman and her grandchildren, Betsy and Poppy Stainsby, for the presentation to the branch chairman, Ralph Brewster, and other officials.
