Keep your short stories coming in

ENTRIES continue to pour in for the Lynn News-backed online short story competition – with entries now topping 100.

As well as the Lynn News, the national contest is also being backed by 46 other publications within the Lynn News group of newspapers.

Lynn News entries are doing so well they have put the paper second in the table for the numbers of entries received, just behind the Edinburgh Evening News.

Currently leading the way in the local competition is The Magic Binoculars.

The entry, by D.G. Jones, which has so far polled 55 website votes in the adults’ section, tells the story of a pair of unusually-coloured binoculars which, bought from a junk shop for 5, produce extraordinary results when anyone looks through them.

Meanwhile, The Guardian of Luney Pond, by C. Nichols, also features high in the voting.

The leading story in the young adults’ section is The Fury of Ferg, by Amy McBrearty. Amy is also in second place with her story, Lily.

Local winners will go forward to a regional heat followed by the national final.

There will be an award ceremony and winning entries will also be published.

Anyone wanting to enter the competition – or to be a judge and vote online for their favourites – should go to www.authorvauthor.com/kiln

The competition can be also be accessed from the Lynn News website – www.lynnnews.co.uk

The contest has proved so successful that the deadline has been extended to April 30.
