Kills himself day due in court
A LEARNING support worker killed himself at his Reffley home on the day he was due to appear in court to face a string of child abuse charges.
Keith Bradley (49), of 19 Redfern Close, Templemead, was found hanging from the rafters of his garage by his wife Cheryl when she arrived home from work at around 8pm on June 28 this year.
His victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, attended the inquest into Mr Bradley's death on Thursday and after hearing a verdict of suicide recorded told the Lynn News he was a "coward" for what he had done.
The inquest was told emergency services were immediately called to the scene but their efforts were in vain as early indications showed Mr Bradley had been dead for some time.
In a statement read by Greater Norfolk Coroner William Armstrong, Mrs Bradley said she left the family home shortly after 7am on the day her husband died. She knew he was concerned about the court date.
On returning home she went to the living room and heard her husband's phone ringing. After walking into the kitchen, connected to the garage, she saw him hanging.
PC Mark Campbell told the inquest three paramedics were already there and one told him Mr Bradley had been found hanging.
He said there was a possibility he may have died at around lunchtime and the rope had been cut by friends and neighbours.
PC Campbell said Mr Bradley had been bailed to attend court that day to face "serious allegations".
Mr Armstrong said Mr Bradley died from his own actions and, with a note left behind, he recorded a verdict of suicide.
Speaking after the hearing, DC Jane Bane, of the Norfolk Police child protection unit, said Mr Bradley had admitted the offences when interviewed and had been charged by police ahead of his appearance in court. She said he faced ten charges in total including gross indecency and attempted rape.
