KING’S LYNN: Chance to air views on pontoons plan

A consultation evening is to be held to discuss proposals to install pontoons on Lynn’s South Quay.

The event on Monday between 5 and 7pm is being held in the Great Hall at Thoresby College, Queen Street, Lynn.

Last month the borough council announced that an agreement had been reached with the King’s Lynn Conservancy Board to install three pontoons opposite the Green Quay at South Quay for five years.

The pontoons will be accessed by a platform extending out from the quayside to a bridge, which will lead to a 36 metre pontoon.

The pontoons will provide temporary short-term or overnight moorings for leisure craft of up to 1.5 metres draft.

Plans will be available at the consultation event and people will be able to find out more about the layout and proposed operation of the pontoons.

The consultation event is open to anyone, but the council is particularly interested to meet residents and local businesses in the vicinity of the location proposed for the pontoons to discuss the project with them.

Following the consultation, the proposal will be finalised before a planning application is submitted and other necessary consents are sought.

It is hoped to go ahead with the scheme by the summer.
