KING’S LYNN: Corporate call for GEAR entries

Businesses and sports clubs in West Norfolk have been encouraged to sign up for this year’s Grand East Anglian Run by an Olympic star from the borough.

Organisers have launched the corporate challenge for workplace teams, non-athletics clubs and other community groups to take part in the 10k race on May 5.

And Pott Row’s Barbara Parker, the British 3,000 metres steeplechase record holder, gave her backing to the event as she helped to encourage teams to take part.

She said: “The GEAR 10k is a great event, one that I’d love to run in myself one day.”

A minimum of four runners, all of whom must enter individually, are needed to form a team for the corporate challenge.

The times of a team’s fastest four athletes on the day will count towards the final results.

Prizes, sponsored by Orchard Caravans of Wells-next-the-Sea, are presented to the top three teams.

Entries can be made online at www.grandeastanglianrun.co.uk
