KING’S LYNN: Extra police drafted in for New Year celebrations
A police inspector is warning revellers that extra staff will be on duty in Lynn town centre during the New Year celebrations.
Chief Insp Ady Porter has also stated that Christmas has passed peacefully in the town.
He said: “We had a fairly calm few days in the town centre. A few people were arrested for being drunk and disorderly in the run to the Christmas, but they were dealt with quickly and efficiently, before they could cause any issues for the wider public.
“We’ve got extra staff on over the New Year celebrations and will have a visible presence the town centre to ensure everyone enjoys their night out.
“We are really pleased with how Christmas has gone. It seems that people are taking the time to keep their property safe and secure – but we would urge everyone to keep up the good work.
“January is a tough time for many of us and that affects criminals just as much, meaning there will be even more incentive for thieves to steal things anything that’s an easy target.”
