Veteran Hunstanton fundraiser David Foulkes has presented the proceeds from table top sales he held last year to the Macmillan Centre at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Mr Foulkes, 71, of Park Road, visited the centre to hand over £220 to manager Helen Spriggs and assistant nurse Annette Miles. He held the sales in August and at the resort’s Christmas lights switch-on night on November 25.
He is currently planning a bed push in Hunstanton on July 27 this year, from 10am to 4.30pm, to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. A collection will be taken during this event.
Mr Foulkes also intends to do a 16-mile sponsored walk from Lynn Town Hall to the United Services Club in Hunstanton on Armed Forces Day this year – Saturday, June 29 – for Royal British Legion funds.
He will be joined by three other men on the walk, which will see them waved off at Lynn by the borough mayor. They will be taking a route via Lynn’s northern bypass, North Wootton, Castle Rising, Sandringham, Dersingham, Ingoldisthorpe, Snettisham and Heacham.
Mr Foulkes said: “As I am a member of the Dad’s Army Association now, I will be dressing up that day as Corporal Jones in memory of the actor Clive Dunn, who played him so splendidly over the years.”
