The Norfolk Hospice received a boost of around £80,000 on Thursday after 26 volunteer felons were arrested for crimes, including overuse of glitter, and bails of £500 were demanded for the annual Hold Up.

Rebekah Mills, lottery and fundraising support, said: “This is a spectacular result and the money raised will go towards specialist end-of-life nursing care.”

Police commisioner, Stephen Bett, was arrested for on suspicion of dealing in stolen goods – fridges from Iceland, but received a large bail donation of £50,000.

Charges were announced by the town criers before police escorted prisoners away in riot vans to the old Gaol House where they were detained until they raised enough for release.
