KING’S LYNN: Police issue drug crime pledge

Police chiefs in Lynn have pledged to continue their crackdown on drug crime after 25 people were suspected of carrying illegal substances during an operation in the town this week.

Searches were carried out during the plain clothes patrol in the town centre on Monday after sniffer dogs identified positive indications of drugs.

Only one of the people searched was found to be carrying drugs, a quantity of temazapam which was seized.

But senior officers say work of this sort, which also involved members of the Special Constabulary, is vital.

Chf Insp Ady Porter, of Lynn police, said: “We take drug offences extremely seriously and will continue to carry out operations in and around the town to crack down on offenders.

“Drug use is connected to other types of crime and anti-social behaviour and by disrupting the drug chain at every level we are having a positive impact on crime levels.”
