KING’S LYNN: Ron is squirrels’ friend

Lynn man Ron Richardson has literally got the squirrel population in a park eating out of his hand.

He began feeding grey squirrels, who are now so used to him they sometimes sit on his lap, in The Walks in February last year and regularly gives them nuts and occasionally chocolate digestives.

He said: “They love chocolate. I broke up a chocolate digestive and they would eat the chocolate and throw the other bit away. On one occasion when I had run out of nuts, one ran up a tree and began to throw branches at me.”

Mr Richardson has also raised concerns about the number of dogs which have killed squirrels in the park.

He was pictured by Maureen Grimes feeding one of his furry friends.
