Sainsbury’s staff across West Norfolk are doing their bit to help raise thousands of pounds for Red Nose Day.

Staff and customers at Lynn’s Vancouver Quarter store have raised more than £2,700 so far for the Comic Relief event, and there are hopes to raise even more.

The latest fundraiser undertaken by staff was a sponsored walk on Wednesday, which added more than £750 to the total.

Around 20 colleagues were taken to Downham for free thanks to Norfolk Green buses, and then they walked back to Lynn.

Store manager Simon Cross said: “Everyone had some fun on the way and made it back. Sponsorship has taken the total raised by colleagues and customers to £2,731 so far, and with one week to go we very much hope to reach £5,000.”

At the Sainsbury’s store in Hunstanton, staff feature in their very own Red Nose Day calendar.

The limited-edition calendar, which sees staff making silly poses in their red noses, will go on sale on Friday, with all proceeds going to the cause.

Store spokesman Darren Burrows said everyone had a lot of fun making the calendar, and said it couldn’t have been possible without Paris Print and Design in Hunstanton.

Staff will also be dressing up all this week, and are even holding a fundraising bake-off.

Two friends from Northwold teamed up to do something funny for Comic Relief on Sunday.

Maisie Bell and Roxy Wellard, both 12, dressed up in dinosaur onesies and walked backwards for a mile.

The girls raised a total of £274 after Roxy’s father gave them the idea.

Roxy’s mum, Claire Neal, said: “The girls managed to walk from Mill Drove to Fendick’s Fishery in 40 minutes, they were quite quick surprisingly. And their onesies helped keep them warm.”
