KING’S LYNN: Work up a sweat in a great cause

Enjoy all the fun of a top gym and raise money for new heart equipment at your hospital – that’s the initiative for local folk to try this weekend.

LA Fitness is organising a ‘taster’ day on Saturday to raise funds for the Healthy Hearts campaign at the
Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Entry to the event, which is open to all on a just turn up basis, is £5 for a three-hour session between 11am and 2pm.

LA Fitness is at Hamburg Way on the North Lynn Industrial Estate.

Money raised at the event will go towards the QEH Healthy Hearts campaign to raise £200,000 for new heart diagnostic equipment.

Coronary heart disease remains Great Britain’s single biggest killer, accounting for more than 82,000 deaths a year.

Nearly three million people are living with the condition.

The event offers gym and swim sessions, Zumba for adults and beginners, with Zumbatonic for children aged eight to 12, Boxercise and a Spin class.

LA Fitness general manager, Wendy Collins, said: “Anyone who comes along can try out all of the activities or just the ones they prefer. The £5 they pay is going to a very good cause that will help to save lives.

“We have all been in contact with someone who has had heart problems.

“In this industry keeping fit and keeping your heart healthy is what we’re all about, so we are fundraising for a cause that is very close to us.”
