London's Billy Elliot beckons for Shannon
A LYNN dance student has won a place in the cast of West End hit stage show Billy Elliot.
Shannon Gaskin (10), who trains with Footlights Dance Centre, in Railway Road, Lynn, three to four times a week has already notched up a raft of medals in ballet, tap, jazz and modern dance contests and performed with Footlights at Disney World, Florida, when she was eight.
The youngster, of Freckenham, Suffolk, begins rehearsals as a ballet girl in the Billy Elliot line-up on Monday and will start performing in the show at the beginning of December, under a six-month contract.
Mum Virginia Gaskin said: “She is absolutely ecstatic.”
