Lynn appeal for 'Poppy power'
POPPY people are needed to grow the Royal British Legion's annual appeal in the Lynn area this autumn.
Although the Lynn and District branch raised 23,047.30 last year, it was short of its 25,000 target and the Poppy Appeal organisers want help to make sure it hits the mark this time.
"Poppy power depends on people," said Lynn and district Poppy Appeal organiser Gerry Tann.
"Without volunteer collectors out there on the streets and without appeal organisers planning the collections this great cause, which helps thousands of ex-servicemen and women and their dependants, would grind to a halt.
DESIRE
"We urgently need to recruit more people as many of our current volunteers are retiring from active duty."
He pointed out there is no need to be a legion member and no special skills or qualifications are required – just a desire to help and some free time.
This year's Poppy Appeal will be launched on Saturday, October 27, in New Conduit Street, Lynn, at 11am and will run through to Remembrance Day, Sunday, November 11.
Mt Tann is looking for volunteers to collect in the town's supermarkets and in the street collection which is from November 3 to November 11.
Anyone who can help is asked to contact him on 01553 674953 or call in at the RBL Club in Tower Street, Lynn.
