Lynn hit-and-run victim home

RETIRED Lynn man Michael Kenny is now home from hospital after the hit-and-run incident on November 19 which left him with a fractured skull, broken right leg and dislocated shoulder.

The 64-year-old former Dow Chemical worker was discharged from Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital on November 29. He still has his right leg in plaster and three appointments at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, in January for a neurologist to examine the skull fracture.

Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the collision. It happened at about 8.45am on November 19 as Mr Kenny was walking his dog, Prince, and crossing Winston Churchill Drive near the Anthony Nolan Road junction on Lynn's Fairstead Estate.

He was in collision with a dark-coloured estate car which failed to stop at the scene and left him lying in a pool of blood in the road.

Speaking from his home at Post Mill, Fairstead, yesterday, Mr Kenny said he was under doctors' orders to keep weight off his right leg, which is expected to remain in plaster for another three weeks before a decision is taken on whether to operate.

His eyesight has deteriorated and he is also getting dizzy spells. "The right side of my eye has like a cloud over it and any sudden movement to the head makes the room spin round," he explained.

"My wife Lavinia is looking after me and all I'm concerned with is getting better and taking Prince for a walk again."

Investigating officer PC Becky Wood, of Lynn Police, said so far no witnesses had come forward and, because of the serious injuries to Mr Kenny, she was keen to hear from anyone who saw the collision, or with information about it, on 0845 456 4567.
