A SQUADRON which raised £45,011 while on operations in Afghanistan handed over cheques to three charities.

Men and women in RAF Marham’s No 31 Squadron were set the challenge of raising £31,000 by running, cycling and rowing 31,000 miles.

Pilots, engineers and troops completed the challenge during the four-month deployment and flew more than 2,000 hours.

The squadron exceeded its target by covering 56,000 miles, which included a version of the Great North Run while in Kandahar.

Cheques were presented to Help for Heroes, Tickets for Troops and Epilepsy Action representatives last week.
