Marham to get information point

A COMMUNITY information point is set to be opened in Marham allowing access to a wide range of services.

Based in the Hive Centre, Woodview Road, the project will enable residents to access West Norfolk Council's website and is the 14th point to be opened within the borough.

The Marham point will be open from 9am to 3pm weekdays and there will be volunteers on hand to help.

"In the long term we think more and more people will choose to access our services this way as it has the potential to save everyone time and money.

"Residents will be able to make payments, report problems and access planning applications without having to travel into the council offices," said Cllr Richard Searle, cabimet member for performance.

"We have updated our website to improve access to our services for people who live in rural areas, but we also acknowledge that not everyone has access to a computer or the confidence to do their business with us over the internet," he added.

For further information about the Hive point, contact Jo Robson 01760 446121 or 01760 337261 extension 7425.

To set up a community information point, West Norfolk Council works with the parish council and school or local group to identify a suitable location.

It provides a computer, printer and broadband access and the parish council ensures there are trained volunteers available to help residents.

Any other parish councils interested in taking part should contact Honor Howell on 01553 616550.
