Masons give £2,000 to help disabled horse riders
WEST Norfolk Riding for the Disabled Association has been presented with more than £2,000 thanks to the fundraising effort of St Winnold Masonic Lodge, based in Downham.
The money was raised through various functions organised by Master Roger Staines and fellow members, who presented a cheque for 2,127 to chairman Rosie O’Grady during a recent visit to the association’s Magpie Centre at Wallington Hall, near Downham.
Mr Staines said that during his year in office he was keen to donate his master’s charity to a worthy local cause.
He added: “Having seen the tremendous work undertaken by the voluntary staff at the Riding for the Disabled Association, and the happiness and delight of those taken from a wheelchair and placed on the back of a horse, it has been worth every penny.”
