Mayor dyscovers Lynn club success
EVERY child who attends the Dyscoverers Club at Lynn has received a certificate to mark their progress and achievements at the regular Saturday meetings.
The presentations were made to all 55 children by West Norfolk's Deputy Mayor Michael Langwade, at the Discovery Centre in North Lynn.
"We felt they deserved this recognition and they loved hearing their names called out and walking forward to collect their award," said Sheila Clarke, who is the office administrator for the club which has been running since 2003 and is a sub-division of the Dyspraxia Foundation.
She said that as awareness of dyspraxia and of the club has grown, numbers of children attending the Saturday morning meetings have also gone up.
"We make sure they have a fun time and at the same time raise their confidence and self-esteem," she explained. "As well as the meetings at the Discovery Centre we have organised outings in the summer and held a camping weekend."
The club is run by Geraldine Lister, the activities coordinator, and a team of helpers including parents. "Without these volunteers we would not have a club," added Ms Clarke.
