Mayor on big bike ride for elderly
ON yer bike! Hundreds of motorcyclists, including West Norfolk Mayor Mrs Kathy Mellish, are expected to be revving up for this year's British Motorcyclists' Federation Mayor's Appeal Run.
The event – this year the 13th – helps the appeal by providing food for the elderly at Christmas. Motorcyclists bring hundreds of items of food with them.
The mammoth ride, which last year attracted 273 motorcyclists, will start from C and A Superbikes at Tottenhill at 1.30pm on Saturday, November 17.
The bikes will go on a 30-mile route around West Norfolk ending at Lynn Town Hall.
Tea and coffee will be offered at the start and there should also be a burger van.
"This year we will also be having a police presence on the run, and the Mayor will also be taking part, possibly on her own bike," said Richard Pike, who is organising the event, with Ian Bamforth, on the BMF's behalf.
Anyone with a bike is more than welcome to take part, just by turning up and bringing a donation of food to deliver to the town hall, and anyone wanting more information is asked to ring Mr Pike on 07754 104377 or Mr Bamforth on 07958 296901.
