MURDER INVESTIGATION - Body is Alisa Dmitrijeva

Waiting for Video...

POLICE have confirmed that a body found on the Sandringham estate last week is that of missing teenager Alisa Dmitrijeva.

The 17-year-old from Wisbech, who was last seen in Friars Street, Lynn, last August, was formally identified yesterday following a second round of DNA testing.

Family liaison officers have met with members of Alisa’s family.

And, in a statement released through Norfolk Police, they said they were “devastated” by her death.

As previously reported, Alisa’s remains were found by a dog walker in woodland on the Royal estate on New Year’s Day.

Police said they established her identity by comparing detail from her palm with previously held records, which were further verified by DNA taken from her thighbone.

Detectives have not yet revealed how they think Alisa may have died, but say they will now be liaising with officers from the Cambridgeshire force who were working on the investigation to find Alisa after she went missing.

Det Chf Insp Jes Fry, who is leading the murder inquiry, said they were also trying to establish what activity there had been around the site where Alisa’s body was found during August and September of last year.

He added: “We would like to identify people who may have worked in that area or were involved in organising or running any specific events that may have taken place.”

Anyone who has information connected to the case is asked to contact the Joint Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team on the non-emergency 101 number.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
