Mystery suicide of Middleton man (21)

MYSTERY surrounds the reasons why an outwardly happy and loved son killed himself.

Recording a verdict of suicide on Christopher Wiglusz (21), Greater Norfolk Coroner William Armstrong said: "It is very clear he had the advantage of a loving and caring family. Something outside the family must have been troubling Christopher."

He added that Christopher had not suffered with any mental illnesses and there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

After the inquest Christopher's devastated mother spoke of her belief that God will reunite her with her son after he committed suicide in his bedroom.

Christopher hanged himself at his home in Cavendish Close, Middleton, on December 17 last year but there has been no indication why he took his own life.

An inquest at Lynn County Court yesterday heard that Christopher's body was found slumped against the bedroom door by his mother Halina as she went to find out why he was late for work.

Mrs Wiglusz said: "It is a big tragedy. It was his choice, he chose to leave us. We are believers and believe we will be reunited. Our belief in God will help us."

Christopher had been working as a sales assistant at Lynn's Morrisons store and was due to start a shift at 11am on the day of his death but did not attend.

After receiving a call from the store Mrs Wiglusz went to the bedroom but could not get the door open.

She told the hearing she assumed he was getting changed but when she returned to the bedroom she forced her way in and found him sitting on the floor with his back to the door.

At first Mrs Wiglusz believed Christopher had fainted, but she later found a belt round his neck. She tried to resuscitate him but there were no signs of life.

Mrs Wiglusz described Christopher as a "hardworking and honest" son.

He enjoyed fishing, going to discos, playing football and snooker and had just joined the local rave scene. She said he came from a happy and caring family and had never spoken of taking his life.
