New eco-friendly bus for Lynn
NORTH West Norfolk MP Henry Bellingham officially launched a new bus on Friday – an eco-friendly, low-emission vehicle.
The bus, named the 'Robert Stephenson', is one of Norfolk Green's new single decker buses for its 505 route from Lynn to Spalding.
Lynn-based independent company Norfolk Green has invested more than 250,000 on two new 42-seat, low-emission buses for the route, the purchases following on from two identical buses bought last year.
Each is being named after an historic person connected with places along the route.
Robert Stephenson was picked because the 19th century engineer built the second crossing over the River Nene at Sutton Bridge in 1850.
After cutting a ribbon and naming the bus, Mr Bellingham was taken on a short ride before making a tour of Norfolk Green's base in Hamlin Way, Hardwick Narrows industrial estate, Lynn.
Norfolk Green managing director, Mr Ben Colson, said: "We are delighted that Mr Bellingham could come and launch our new pride of the fleet."
