New Lynn centre for homeless
A DAY centre for people who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless, is opening in Lynn next week.
The Purfleet Day Centre will be based at The Granaries, Nelson Street, and will be an opportunity for anyone facing the prospect of homelessness to come to talk in a relaxed environment over tea and coffee about their particular situation and the different options available to them.
The centre is being launched by the Purfleet Resettlement Service and staff and volunteers will be available to offer support, specialist advice and help to find ways forward in different personal situations.
This will include debt advice, information on private tenancies, housing issues, benefit information, gaining appropriate skills or simply an opportunity to share problems.
The new centre is being launched on Tuesday and will be open every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am to 2pm.
In addition to the new centre, the Purfleet Resettlement Service will continue to provide information and help to anyone facing homelessness.
The office is open to the public between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday, when callers will be offered an initial 15-minute appointment to assess their needs.
The service is currently based on the first floor at The Granaries but hopes to relocate to the ground floor.
Anyone who has difficulties accessing services should contact 01553 767829.
