RAF Marham has a new commanding officer after Wing Commander Nick Tucker-Lowe handed over to his successor.

The airman took to the skies for his final flight as Officer Commanding II(AC) Squadron before handing over the reins to Wing Commander Jez Holmes.

In his two years in charge of one of the oldest fixed wing Squadrons of the RAF – known in the service as Shiny Two – Wing Cmdr Tucker-Lowe has dealt with deployments to Gioia Del Colle in Italy in support of Operation Ellamy over the skies of Libya and to Afghanistan in Operation Herrick.

He has also commanded the Squadron during its centenary overseeing numerous celebrations and a visit from the Queen.

Wing Cmdr Tucker-Lowe said: “To command No II(AC) Squadron has been a great honour and privilege. I have been immensely impressed by the individual professionalism and determination of every Serviceman and Servicewoman on the Squadron, and have been equally impressed by their inspiring teamwork.

“With the support of families, friends and our neighbours here in West Norfolk, the Squadron continues to go from strength to strength.

“So I wish my successor Wing Cmdr Holmes and everyone on Shiny Two every success in the future.”

Wing Cmdr Jez Holmes is no stranger to RAF Marham as he returns for his third tour at the base having served with both IX(B) Squadron and II(AC) Squadron.

He said: “I’d like to congratulate Nick on a fantastic tour as the commander of one the oldest fixed wing squadron in the RAF and the Squadron wishes him and his family all the very best for the future”.
