New Year's baby for Dersingham couple

THE New Year started in spectacular style for a Dersingham couple following the birth of their daughter – 12 days later than expected.

The arrival of bouncing baby Ruby Shackcloth at 12.33am continued what is becoming a family tradition on January 1, as her cousin Oliver Booth was born on the same day last year at Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Mother Kelly Shackcloth (30) told the Lynn News: "Oliver was the first baby to be born at the hospital in 2007. Ruby was due on December 19 so I never gave any thought to them being born on the same day.

"We have all been a bit surprised. She is a healthy baby and we are looking forward to going home."

Ruby was born weighing 6lb 10oz and is the first child of Kelly and husband James Shackcloth (35). She was due to go home yesterday.

Mr Shackcloth works for his wife's father Derek Booth, who runs Booth and Son Restoration, listed building restorers.
