No election at Hillington

A POLL due to take place later this month to fill a vacancy on Hillington Parish Council has been called off as one councillor has been elected unopposed.

The election was due to have taken place on March 27 to fill the vacancy after two nominations were received.

However, one candidate, Karen Kennedy-Hill, has withdrawn, said a spokesman for West Norfolk Council, meaning the other, Wendy Woo, will be elected.

Elections were prompted at Hillington after, as the Lynn News reported last month, four members of the council resigned at once, including the chairman Nick Irving and vice-chairman Kevin Root, leaving it unable to meet.

An election was due to have taken place yesterday to fill the four original vacancies, but as there were only three nominations – Lesley Heywood, Jane Hill and Neil Riseborough – they were all elected.
