No-go for A47 improvements

CALLS for the A47 junction to be improved have been rejected by the Highways Agency.

It said that despite traffic volumes increasing these are still within the capacity levels. It also said that accident levels were too low for it to be a justifiable proposition to make any improvements.

There will be a further meeting of the working party in April to try to find a way forward with the project.

The council had written to Norfolk Rural Community Council (NRCC) informing it of its legal obligation to maintain the playing field fence under the terms of their lease.

NRCC will contact the landowner of the adjoining property concerning access to his property, possibly by means of gates, or gaps, in the fence.

An inspection of the fence was carried out by parish councillors and the clerk. Some immediate repairs are required which could pose a danger to users of the playing field, and about eight to ten sections need replacing. The parish council will await the outcome of the request made to the landowner by the NRCC.

A planning application for the construction of a dwelling at 21 Tuns Rd was rejected by Breckland Council

A panel has been kicked out and smashed on the A47 bus shelter. As it is a lower panel it will not cause any major problems. A quote will be sought from the supplier.

Councillor Dean submitted his resignation from the parish council. The vice chairman thanked him for his contribution during his time on the council.

A letter had been received from NRCC thanking the parish council for their support in their efforts to secure new play equipment.

Police have written confirming that all volunteers for the Community Car Scheme had passed the police screening.

A letter updating the council on the Local Development Framework shows a possible building site at the back of Brackenwoods which Breckland has deemed as non conforming.

The street light in Wynfields which was damaged has been paid for by the driver's insurance company so the clerk has arranged for the lighting contractor to replace it as soon as possible.

A letter was read out from Councillor Walsh in his absence regarding possible sites for allotments. He had approached a landowner and put items in the Link to try to obtain some land, but unfortunately none is available.

The outcome of Norfolk County Council and the future of the old school playing field will have to be awaited.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, April 6, at 7.30pm in the village hall.
