Ofsted first for Lynn centre
A LEARNING centre which helps young people in Lynn gain employment is celebrating passing its first Ofsted inspection.
Norfolk e2e, which also has a centre in Dereham, provides training for 16 to 19-year-olds who for various reasons have not achieved the skills at school they need to get into work.
The project, which was launched five years ago by children’s charity NCH – formerly the National Children’s Home – at the Old Rectory, Gayton Road, has achieved a grade 2 (good) Ofsted rating.
Strengths identified include high achievement rates for qualifications, good monitoring of learners’ progress, supportive employers, good communications and good partnership working to support learners.
The two centres support more than 100 teenagers each year with classes in basic skills, ICT and vocational development, extended work experience and personal development.
Gill Birch, NCH Norfolk e2e project manager, said: “This grade confirms us as a leading e2e provider and is testament to the hard work and commitment of the staff.”
