Open day on Lynn power station plan
RESIDENTS are being invited to an open day focused on the environmental impact of an extension that would more than double the output of Lynn power station.
Centrica is considering adding to the existing facility at Saddlebow to take its current 340 megawatt output to around 800 megawatts.
Before moving forward with the plan it needs to fully assess the environmental impact of the scheme and is inviting residents to air their views and hear more about the proposals first hand.
The scheme, expected to create up to 1,000 jobs during construction and 30 to 40 permanent roles should it happen, is one of three large developments in the pipeline for the area of South Lynn.
German-based Palm Paper has just received planning approval for a huge new paper mill at Poplar Avenue and Norfolk County Council is expected to move the town's recycling centre to Saddlebow Road from Horsleys Fields.
The power station plan open day is at Nora Project Office, off Southgates Roundabout, Wisbech Road, South Lynn, between 11.30am and 7.30pm, today (Monday).
Anyone with further questions or who cannot make the day can contact David Simkins at Centrica on 01733 895475 or email: enquiries. kingslynn@centrica.com
