Opera diva Katherine to perform at Sandringham

ONE of the world's best-loved classical performers, Katherine Jenkins, is set to sing at Sandringham this summer.

Jenkins is due to perform on the last night of the proms at The Queen's Sandringham Estate during an open-air concert which takes place on Saturday, August 8.

Her performance will be supported by the National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Anthony Inglis, with a support act set to be announced.

Known as the "new Forces' sweetheart" after entertaining troops in Basra, Welsh-born Jenkins has achieved global sales of more than three million.

Her debut album, 2004's appropriately entitled Premiere, was the fastest selling of all time by a mezzo soprano, with well over 30,000 copies snapped up in the first week.

She is the only singer in musical history to simultaneously hold the number one, two, three and four positions in the classical album charts, which she achieved in 2007 with Premiere, Second Nature, Living the Dream and Serenade.

Serenade also went to number five in the pop charts and has sold more than a half-a-million copies to date.

Bookings are now being taken for the Sandringham concert. Anyone wanting tickets should visit www.ticket east.co.uk or call 0871 224 1113.
