Oxburgh Hall wildlife ongoing mission
VOLUNTEERS from RAF Marham have helped create a new wildlife habitat at Oxburgh Hall.
A group of nine military personnel from Role Bay, in Depth Support Wing, spent a day at the hall, tidying woodland, cutting and stacking logs to help create a new habitat to benefit a variety of insects, voles, mice, lichens and grasses.
The group was very enthusiastic and enjoyed the day at the hall while gaining worthwhile work experience.
Head gardener at the hall, Graham Donachie, said: "We are all really pleased at how the day went and those who took part really got stuck in.
"It was so successful in fact that they are going to come back on a monthly basis and work on other areas of the estate that require hard manual labour.
"This is fantastic news for Oxburgh Hall, as without our volunteers, we simply would not be able to get all the work done that needs doing."
Throughout the year, Mr Donachie and his team have been busy in the gardens and the estate is now coming to life with the colours of autumn.
Oxburgh Hall house, gardens and estate, which is in the village of Oxborough, and is a National Trust property, will be open from Saturday to Wednesday, 11am to 4pm, until the end of October.
