PCSOs help clean up at Swaffham

NOBODY took up the chance offered last week for people in Swaffham to join an officer on the beat in the town to point out and discuss issues police need to address.

But it was not a totally fruitless exercise as Police Community Support Officers Hazel Tampin and Michelle Thurlow, from Swaffham Safer Neighbourhood Team, were joined by community volunteers Jasmin Payton and Katie Smith in a litter-clearing operation on Thursday.

The quartet picked up rubbish around Swaffham Recreation Ground in Haspalls Road and in the grassed area at Campingland, near the town's community centre, filling two bags in under two hours.

PCSO Thurlow said the event was well advertised and a letter drop carried out in advance.
