Pensioner faces abortion picture charges

A PENSIONER who allegedly breached an anti-social behaviour order by showing images of aborted foetuses to a shop worker will have his case heard at Norwich Crown Court.

Edward Atkinson (76), of Marian Cottage, Ely Road, Hilgay, is accused of breaching the order on Friday, February 8, when it is claimed he showed two pictures to Astrid Newman while at a store in Downham.

He is also charged with using words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

Mr Atkinson appeared at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday but refused to enter a plea to the charges.

The case has been adjourned to Wednesday, April 16, for the preparation of committal papers to the crown court. Mr Atkinson was released on conditional bail.
