Pentney sex assault on girl (15)

A 15-year-old girl was enticed to the home of a Pentney man who sexually assaulted her, a court was told on Friday.

Robertson Hare (57), of 35 Church Close, suggested there was the possibility of some gardening work and the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, went into his home where she was assaulted by him.

He admitted sexual assault on the girl in July last year and also admitted sexual activity with her.

He was sentenced to a total of two-and-a-half years, put on the sex offenders' register indefinitely and made subject of a sex offenders' prevention order under which he must not be in the company of any female under the age of 16 without an appropriate adult.

He had two previous offences in 2003 for indecent exposure.

Katherine Moore, in mitigation, said Hare suffered from worsening health having had a heart attack and suffered from arthritis and cateracts.
