Pints pull in cash for Norfolk Hospice fund

THE Norfolk Hospice Tapping House has raised a glass to Lynn Vancouver Round Table after the town's beer festival raised a fantastic £4,300 for the charity.

The Round Table raised the money with its tenth festival at Lynn's Stuart House Hotel in July.

Treasurer Ian Cooper said a lot of hard work is put into organising the popular event, which is its biggest fundraiser of the year.

Normally the proceeds are put into a pot of money which is donated to charities and individuals throughout the year, but this time they decided to donate the whole amount to make a real difference to a local cause.

Snettisham-based Tapping House, which provides palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses, received the donation from Round Table members last week.

"When we went to the hospice to present the cheque, they showed us their work and it was very humbling to see what they do," said Mr Cooper.

The Round Table is continuously raising money to help various local causes, whether it is a charity, organisation or a disabled youngster who needs help getting about.

Anyone who would like to be considered for a donation from the Round Table can contact its community services officer Mr Dan Ashton on 07766746948.

A COMPETITION to guess the weight of the pumpkin at the Knights Hill Farm Shop, near Lynn, has raised 450 for Norfolk Hospice Tapping House.

The winner was Lorraine Moulton, of Lynn, who correctly guessed 21kg (46lb 8oz), who wins both the pumpkin and a basket of fruit.
