Plea for Brown Owl to fly to rescue

A GROUP of Dersingham brownies is urgently seeking a new leader.

The 1st Dersingham group’s current Brown Owl, Sandra Hullett, has to leave at the end of the year.

Two volunteers are being sought to train to take over the running of the thriving unit, which has 18 members and a waiting list.

The brownies meet on Thursdays from 5.30pm to 7pm at the scout and guide hut in the village.

The girls, aged seven to ten, also enjoy “revels” with other brownie groups in the area, outings and a pack holiday.

Mrs Hullett, of Station Road, said: “There is lots of interest from local children and it would be a shame not to be able to find someone else to take over.”

She has been a Brown Owl for 15 years, the last five at Dersingham.

There is another brownie pack in Dersingham, but that is also full.

Brown Owl training takes up to a year.

Mrs Hullett asked anyone who would like to know more to contact her on 01485 543960.
