‘Pocket garden’ scheme for King’s Lynn’s Baker Lane car park

Plans are in the pipeline to transform part of a car park into a garden.

West Norfolk Council is looking to create a pocket garden on a section of the Baker Lane car park in Lynn.

The plan is part of an improvement project which sees the council working with colleagues in Amiens, France.

Plans for Baker Lane are at an early stage but will focus on the spaces near the river. The council has already sold off part of the car park.

The West Norfolk and French authorities have received European funding to work together to enhance their areas in a bid to boost tourism and training projects.

The Amiens scheme will include projects in Lynn, Hunstanton and Downham over two years.

The scheme combines art and architecture with landscape gardening.

It aims to provide a mentoring and training project and creating opportunities for a host of cultural activities.
