QEH vomiting bug: 'I'll be back'
THE current outbreak of winter vomiting at Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital was said to be over on Thursday, but bosses fear they haven't seen the back of the bug.
The hospital, which has seen 126 patients and 159 staff struck down with the Norovirus bug since it started in November, has had no new cases for more than a week.
But with around 100,000 people nationally getting the vomiting and diarrhoea disease every week, the QEH is bracing itself for more sickness when Norovirus infections are expected to peak across the country later this month.
It is the worst outbreak for five years, with more than two million people infected.
A spokesman said the hospital has been able to recover for now thanks to a team effort from staff and the public observing hand-hygiene rules.
