RAF Marham registers support
RAF MARHAM has provided a welcome shot in the arm for the Anthony Nolan Trust by donating a cheque for £1,000 to the charity.
The presentation was made following a successful clinic at the base which saw more than 80 personnel joining the volunteers’ bone marrow register. The station’s charity committee then voted in favour of donating 1,000 to the cause.
The Anthony Nolan Trust supports the thousands of people a year who are diagnosed with fatal marrow diseases who rely on a blood cell transplant from a volunteer who shares the same tissue type.
Janet Short, whose son died of the disease, has been instrumental in organising support for the trust at RAF Marham.
She said: “This generous amount given by the charities’ committee was a great surprise.
“It has certainly boosted our coffers and we are on target to raise 2,500 by Christmas.”
