Residents only cars at Hillington Square
THE end could be in sight for the parking problems at Lynn's Hillington Square after it was revealed a new permit system for residents is to be introduced.
The move has been designed to crackdown on the increasing number of people who park their cars at the expense of residents.
At the annual general meeting of Hillington Square Residents' Association on Monday the idea was backed by those affected by the problem and Freebridge Community Housing is now working on the finer details of a scheme.
Secretary Mrs Irene Gammon said: "We have been complaining about it for years.
"We have residents coming home from work and they find they cannot park."
Freebridge Community Housing revealed this week that the new arrangements will be in place by Christmas.
One ticket will be issued free of charge to each household initially, meaning each household will be able to park one vehicle.
Early information shows that up to 20 per cent of residents may not own a vehicle, which means there is a possibility additional tickets for households with two vehicles may be issued.
The system will be administered by the same company which manages parking at Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
