Road works cause concern

RESIDENTS from Dunnetts Close expressed concerns over the recent road works carried out at unsociable hours. The clerk will write to Hasto Housing to express their concerns.

The numbering of the new housing seems to be very confusing, but the council was unsure who is responsible for deciding the format.

A concern on whether the sewage system will be able to cope was also raised. After nearly a year a footpath sign is still in the ditch, the footpath warden will look into this and get the sign re-erected.

Cllr Richard Leighton was re-elected chairman and Cllr Marcia Forsyth vice-chairman at Ashill Parish Council’s annual meeting.

It was decided not to write again to Highways about the situation at the recycling site, but the parish council endorsed its statement that it would not be held accountable for any accident.

The notice has now been fixed to the playing field tennis court. Joyce Gray offered to attend the net which needs repair. It was agreed not to replace the Deep Water sign on the pit.

The council would like it made known it is unaware of more proposed housing in Dunnetts Close.

The police have asked that all acts of vandalism at the community centre be reported as soon as they occur.

It was agreed that the council would donate 50p per hour to the community centre for all village organisations using it. Any group which felt it did not need the help could still pay the same rate they are paying at present, increasing the income for the centre.

A quote of 450 was accepted for making the new board.

Inquiries into purchasing extra land for burials are proceeding.

The clerk will write to Breckland Council objecting to the proposed plan to outsource the planning department.

There was no objection to a planning application for a garage with living accommodation above, at Redmoor, Cressingham Road, provided it always remains as part of the main dwelling. Also no objections to a Dutch barn at Green Farm and an extension at 19 Lewis Close.
