Saggy's 50th present

A GRATEFUL dad used his 50th birthday party to raise £625 for the hospital unit where his premature baby daughter was nurtured to health.

Lynn Pelicans hockey player Alan "Saggy" Sagrott and his family had T-shirts made and covered donation buckets in posters to raise the cash for the Lynn News Special Care Baby Appeal.

Mr Sagrott's wife Sarah (37) had complications throughout her pregnancy with daughter Lucy (four) until she was born six weeks early weighing 4lb 8oz.

Marham-based BAE aeronautical engineer, of Oulton Close, Swaffham, Mr Sagrott said: "The staff were superb and professional looking after Lucy, especially when she had to have a chest drain put in.

The appeal aims to raise 150,000 for a vital expansion and revamp of Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Mr Sagrott asked for donations for the appeal instead of gifts when he celebrated his birthday with generous friends and family.
