Samurai sword attack man jailed
A MARTIAL arts enthusiast who attacked a man with Samurai swords has been jailed for two years and nine months.
Marcus Harrison (28) admitted unlawfully wounding Darron Cummings with intent to cause grievous bodily harm when he appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Friday.
The court heard Harrison, of 6 Barons Close, Fakenham, returned home to get the weapons after an argument broke out between him and Mr Cummings on the night of April 5.
Stephen Poole, prosecuting, said Harrison was seen holding a sword in each hand and hitting Mr Cummings on the shoulder and in his stomach.
A wound on Mrs Cummings' forearm, measuring six centimetres, required stitches and he also needed a stitch internally.
When police arrived, Harrison said: "I know you are going to arrest me. I have attacked someone," the court was told.
Neil Guest, in mitigation, said: "He has a genuine interest in martial arts, but he should have used other options. There was no premeditation, he is remorseful."
Jailing him, Judge Paul Downes said: "There was an element of provocation, but this was a serious injury."
